Calling all savvy librarians

I would like to invite you all to a new social network, Savvy Librarians.

This network was created with the hopes “to provide effective and efficient library resources to librarians, or those in similar fields. With the help of it’s members, Savvy will strive to meet the personal and professional needs of the library community, by offering resources, discussion, and information in an open and amiable way.”

Check it out, become a member, and share your unique views and knowledge concerning the library and information science industry. I am hoping that those of you out there with specialized knowledge and ideas will create your own “group” within Savvy, to help teach and inform your library colleagues. I have created a few groups to start out with, including a couple of tutorials and links on subjects I am familiar with. I hope you all will do the same!

By becoming a member, you will also have the opportunity to connect and share ideas with librarians from all backgrounds, locations, and specializations.

If anyone has any suggestions on how to improve Savvy, let me know here on Closed Stacks, or through the Savvy network.

What are you waiting for? Go, learn, and have fun!

    Hey hi, all,

I went to Savvy’s Web site and saw this:

“With the help of it’s members …”

    And this:

“Savvy’s RSS feed features library related blogs from it’s members.”

You would seem more savvy if you knew how to spell the possessive form of “it.” The correct spelling is “its” (no apostrophe).

    Thanks Vickie P!

Oh this is very cool indeed! I was looking for something like this but the few that I had found for librarians were not all that great. There’s another site that I frequent called infloox, which centres around the influential links between books and authors or other famous people. Because it’s so interactive, I’ve found it quite useful in getting younger people interested in these subjects.
